Integrations

Most teams don't call Hindsight directly. They add memory to the agent framework or AI tool they already use with a pre-built integration. Integrations handle retaining and recalling for you, usually with a few lines of configuration, so your agent starts remembering without you writing memory code.

Connecting an integration

Integrations connect to Hindsight Cloud by default. To set one up:

  1. Create an API key in the console. A bank-scoped key is a good choice for an integration that should only reach one bank.
  2. Follow the integration's setup guide, and give it your key, usually as the HINDSIGHT_API_KEY environment variable or an api_key setting.
  3. Choose the memory bank it should use. Banks are created automatically on first use.

You don't need to set the API URL: integrations default to https://api.hindsight.vectorize.io.

Integrations call the same API as everything else, so their memories are metered like any other retain or recall, and they show up in the bank like memories from any other source.

When there's no integration

  • AI clients that support MCP (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Windsurf and others) can connect directly to Hindsight's MCP server. See MCP Integration.
  • Your own application or agent can use the Python SDK, the TypeScript SDK, or the REST API.
